OTHER DIRECTORIES

Thriving Southwestern spirit, more than 300 years of history and a unique blend of cultures make Albuquerque one of the most colorful cities in the United States. At once playful and laid back, the classy bohemian personality of this city results from a mash-up of Latin, Indian and European flavors fused to road-trip-era Americana. Albuquerque is a modern city of a million residents where gentlemen ranchers don their finest Stetsons to visit the opera and lawyers saunter into work wearing hand-tooled boots. Downtown offers sassy, margarita-filled nightclubs and a few cool lounges, and every corner of the city is bursting with restaurants serving countless variations of the spectacular local cuisine.

Albuquerque Hotels

Albuquerque offers a variety of lodging options, from outstanding luxury hotels to budget-friendly inns. When looking for hotels in Albuquerque, it’s key to remember that the hotels vary widely depending on their neighborhood. Downtown, like most major city hubs, is home to flashy upscale hotels, such as the Hyatt Regency Albuquerque, aimed at discerning business travelers. Uptown in the shopping district, Albuquerque hotels like the Sheraton are ready to welcome leisure travelers and shop-a-holics. Of course, hotels around the ABQ Airport and UNM are perfect for budget-minded folks and overnight business travelers who want nice accommodations and an easily accessible location. Historic Old Town (just a hop and a skip from downtown) is the place to go for beautiful boutique hotels that are as rich in Southwestern charm as they are in history.

Santa Fe Hotels

Just an hour north of Albuquerque, Santa Fe is another New Mexico desert paradise. Whether planning to visit historic old properties that date back to the days of the Spanish Empire or just basking in the red, dusty glow of the sunsets over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, there are enough hotels in Santa Fe to allow any traveler to find a place to chill that can meet both expectations and budget. Enjoy a romantic getaway under Kokopelli’s watchful eyes at the Dancing Ground of the Sun, or amid the warm and intimate décor of the Hotel Plaza Real. Hang out in the heart of local history at the Old Santa Fe Inn, or just plan an easy-going affordable trip to the Park Inn & Suites.

Albuquerque Dining

Fervently challenging the culinary supremacy of flashy cities like New York and San Francisco, the restaurant scene in Albuquerque is nothing short of excellent. Fans of South American and Mexican-inspired Southwestern food should definitely check out hotspots like Los Equipales, a dining establishment boasting a fantastic menu of authentic Mexican food, or McGrath’s, which blends American favorites with Argentinean flair. The French fare at Le Café Miche is out-of-this-world, and Scalo is celebrated for its preparations of traditional Italian cuisine. Wine lovers can enjoy snazzy bistros like Zinc Wine Bar and Savoy Bar & Grill. The short trip to Santa Fe offers an equally impressive array of restaurants. Albuquerque.com now features online dining reservations.

Albuquerque Real Estate

Like many a Western city during the last half of the 20th century, Albuquerque exploded. The housing and real estate market remains strong with continuing urban revitalization projects over the last ten or fifteen years and a number of well-managed, picturesque suburbs, particularly Rio Rancho to the Northwest and Los Lunas and Belen to the east of the city. The Northeast quadrant of Albuquerque remains a popular area to build and live, and the Northwest is the home of historic Old Town and contains the greatest variety of housing—as well as some of the most expensive and lavish homes in Albuquerque. The University of New Mexico keeps demand for rentals high. Find more information on Albuquerque Real Estate, search Albuquerque apartments, or find an Albuquerque roommate.
